Kill Crew
Conversion testing roadmap
September 2026
Kill Crew has a distinctive mission and strong product proof, but paid journeys can lose momentum through mismatched destinations, unavailable inventory, and slow entry pages. This roadmap connects each promise to a clearer purchase path and carries consistent proof through the homepage, product page, collection, and cart.
Testing Lineup
Eight focused opportunities across paid landing paths, page speed, navigation, proof, and collection merchandising.
Out-of-Stock Product Recovery
Page: Muay Thai Shorts Floral - Black
The strongest matched paid journey reaches the Floral - Black product page, but the live page replaces Add to Cart with "Notify me when available." The product promise is intact while the purchase path is closed. Restore inventory, route shoppers to an available colorway, or stop sending traffic to this page until it can be purchased.
The matched product promise leads to an available Add to Cart path instead of a sold-out notification. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Reptile Collection Message Bridge
Page: Reptile Shorts Collection
Product-focused paid traffic lands on a 34-item mixed grid with no banner, review count, star rating, or guarantee in the first three folds. The exact promoted colorway is not the first product visible. The variation opens with the reptile set and a rating strip before the existing filters and product grid.
A product-led banner confirms the reptile-shorts promise before shoppers enter the existing grid. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
PDP Load Time
Page: Product Detail Page Template
The mobile PDP records an 8.0-second Largest Contentful Paint and takes 12.7 seconds to become interactive. The page also records 0.144 CLS, so content can arrive late and shift while shoppers wait. The fix prioritizes the product image and buy box so the title, price, proof, sizes, and purchase action appear sooner and stay stable.
The product image and complete buy box become the stable first view instead of arriving as late, shifting fragments. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Homepage Load Time
Page: Homepage
The mobile homepage records a 6.4-second Largest Contentful Paint and takes 12.4 seconds to become interactive. The Lighthouse run also ended with a warning that the page loaded too slowly to finish within the time limit. The fix brings the mission image, headline, and shopping actions into view sooner.
The complete mission-led hero and both shopping actions become the first meaningful view. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Persistent Homepage Navigation
Page: Homepage
The homepage navigation and the "SHOP MENS" and "SHOP WOMENS" actions are confined to the opening fold in the captured journey. After shoppers reach Featured Products or Shop by Category, the primary paths require a return to the top. The variation keeps the existing navigation visible while the shopper moves through products and categories.
The existing navigation remains visible while shoppers browse homepage products and categories. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Cart Review Proof
Page: Cart Drawer
The product page shows 4.8 stars and 2,437 reviews twice, but the cart drawer shows no rating or review count. The drawer already carries shipping progress, recommendations, checkout, and four service icons. The variation adds the same review proof directly under the Kill Crew header without changing the rest of the cart.
The PDP's 4.8-star, 2,437-review proof stays visible at the top of the cart drawer. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Homepage Review Proof
Page: Homepage
The homepage hero uses "Over 500,000 orders from happy customers" while the product page uses 4.8 stars and 2,437 reviews. Other captured channels show different review claims, so shoppers encounter competing proof across the journey. The variation keeps the hero layout and replaces the round order claim with the product page's specific rating and review count.
The hero keeps its composition while the proof changes from a round order total to the PDP's specific rating and review count. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Collection Sale Badges
Page: Reptile Shorts Collection
The observed collection grid shows one flat price per card with no sale badge or compare-at price across six captured folds. Discount-style messaging appears elsewhere, but the grid does not make a reduced price visible. The variation gives discounted products a red "SALE" badge and shows the original price beside the sale price.
Discounted cards gain a visible sale badge and compare-at price while the existing grid structure stays intact. Concept illustration only. Final design will differ.
Biggest Killers of Conversion Rate
- Paid product promises can land on either a broad mixed collection with no visible bridge or a matched product page with no purchase path.
- Mobile LCP reaches 6.4 seconds on the homepage and 8.0 seconds on the PDP, while both pages take more than 12 seconds to become interactive.
- Review proof changes across the homepage, product page, advertising, and third-party review platforms, leaving shoppers with competing trust signals.
Data Sources Used
What the Data Shows
Meta Ads and Landing Pages
- Product-focused reptile-shorts traffic reaches a 34-item mixed collection where the promoted colorway is not the first product visible.
- The collection entry shows no message-match banner, review count, star rating, or guarantee in the first three captured folds.
- The matched Floral - Black PDP repeats the squat-proof and chafe-proof promise and shows 4.8 stars, 2,437 reviews, six trust icons, and financing options, but the live page now shows "Notify me when available."
Google Ads
- Visible messaging spans mental health, product performance, brand identity, and shipping or returns.
- Review claims include "4.9 stars (10)" and "10,000+ verified reviews at 5 stars," neither of which appears in the captured paid-social creative or on-site surfaces.
- A Shopping unit promotes Muay Thai Flame Shorts at $50 with a "Free" shipping badge.
Reviews and UGC
- All 38 collected on-site reviews from the last 26 days are five-star and marked "Would recommend."
- Customers repeatedly praise true-to-size comfort, a 4-inch mid-thigh cut, fabric that does not ride up, print variety, repeat purchase, gifting, and compliments.
- Reported frustrations include customer service, unsecured pockets during active wear, and a short drawstring.
- Trustpilot shows a 2.3 TrustScore from 6 reviews, including refund, wrong-item, shipping, and see-through complaints.
PageSpeed Insights
- Homepage mobile performance is 58/100, with 6.4-second LCP and 12.4-second Time to Interactive.
- PDP mobile performance is 63/100, with 8.0-second LCP, 12.7-second Time to Interactive, and 0.144 CLS.
- The homepage run warns that the page loaded too slowly to finish within the time limit. No desktop PageSpeed data was collected.
Site Screenshots
- The homepage leads with the mission statement, two shopping actions, and an "Over 500,000 orders" claim before the product grid.
- The collection grid mixes hoodies, shorts, and T-shirts and shows no sale badges or compare-at pricing across the captured folds.
- The cart drawer shows free-shipping progress, one line item, three recommendations, checkout, and four service icons, but no rating or review count.
Live Site and Client Context
- The reptile-focused paid journeys intentionally share one collection destination, while the Floral - Black journey intentionally opens a product page.
- The live Floral - Black page shows "Notify me when available" and a "3,456 people are currently viewing this product" message.
- No sessions, AOV, or first-party traffic data was collected, so opportunity sizing remains qualitative.
Community Research
- Two independent TikTok reviews describe the shorts as squat-proof, non-see-through, and true to size, with occasional snugness at the listed size.
- One Trustpilot review says the shorts were see-through when squatting, directly conflicting with the performance claim supported elsewhere.
- Instagram had 927K followers and X about 2,438, but the automated research run returned no usable post-level data from either platform.
Competitor Research
- Hylete was observed around $88 for premium training shorts, positioning fabric technology and durability above Kill Crew's $50 shorts price.
- RVCA's VA Sport line offers an action-sports and MMA-adjacent alternative, but comparable pricing was not confirmed.
- Gymshark, Nike, activewear lines from Abercrombie and Hollister, and Stronger by the Day appeared as directional adjacent alternatives in third-party search content.
